DANISH RICE CREAM

At the European Cafe Activity on Friday night my friend Cindy made a Danish Dessert, so delicious, you MUST TRY IT!!!

DANISH RICE CREAM
Boil 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of rice, 2 TBSP of butter, and 1/4 tsp of salt, just until the water is absorbed. Add 3 cups of milk and simmer for 2 hrs. Take a 1/2 packet of knox gelatin and about 2 tsps of water and mix until it thickens and add to hot rice. Add 2/3 cup of sugar and put in fridge til it sets. Stir in 1 cup of cream whipped and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp of almond extract.

Serve with Raspberry or Strawberry jam on top, and slivered almonds if like. Its delicious with the almonds, trust me!!!

I've been working on getting recipes for upcoming YSA activities, and once I find and try some of them, I'll have them posted. YEP YEP!

Cafe L'Europe!!!
GRAND OPENING

Friday, February 22nd, 20086:30pm Hilo Hawaii Stake Center Cultural Hall (Gym)
Guest Speakers: Sis. Tammy Meyers- Served her mission in France.
Sis. Emma Jensen- Served her mission in Norway.
*GRAND OPENING SPECIAL: Brood and Ratatouille*

We had over 25 people in attendance at the Cultural Appreciation: EUROPEAN Cuisine and Culture Night Activity. The food was Magnific!!! Everyone who participated in the planning and preparation of the activity, the food and decor was amazing. Pres. Bauer (Stake Pres. and also CES Director) LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! Many who were there loved it and enjoyed it, and can't stop talking about it.

The set-up. We had 7 round tables with table cloths (pictures on them), a vase of flowers, and the menu of the dishes/desserts/rolls/beverages served that night. We had a pillar in the center of the food table. There was European Music played through out the night, from French to Italian to Greek to Irish. It was so enjoyable!

A couple of baskets used that night. Our family has recycled and re-used flowers all from Aaron and Jackie's wedding receptions. I used table cloths of assort red colors for the food table. You also see a picture of what I had on our menu. A French Chef holding a platter of the letters CL'E "Cafe L'Europe)....

Here is a picture of the Norwegian Broog Sweet Rolls. Must get the recipe!

A side-view picture of the pillar decorated with a purple tool, assort purple, white, and yellow floowers, also pictures and postcards and letters written during WWI and WWII in Europe. We had the food table surrounding it.

Ratatouille...Well the last of it! IT WAS A HIT AT THE CAFE!

Sis. Meyers pointing our what areas she served, and Sis. Jensen's children putting a puzzle together of Europe.

TEN YEARS AGO:

Mmmmm….TEN YEARS AGO a week from now I would be turning 13. WOW! Becoming a teen, a time of my life! FUNNY! Well I enjoyed my 7th grade year because of the new friends I made. I was tired of being the baby of the school, so that year when I went from being a 7th grader to an 8th grader, I was thrilled!

FIVE PLACES I HAVE LIVED:

1. Waipahu, Oahu
2. Keaukaha (Hilo), Island of Hawai’i. Lived with Grandpa Robert and Grams Abbie
3. Temporarily lived at Walder Rd., while our home was being built.
4. Temporarily lived at Lihikai St.
5. Moved back and still living at 213 Todd Ave.

FIVE THINGS ON MY TO-DO LIST:

1. Finish this TAG-list
2. Update my blogs to post this TAG-list, among other things!
3. Get some recipes, among other things needed for upcoming activities planned for our YSA.
4. Claen up the house a bit.
5. Study my scriptures before heading to bed.

I ENJOY:

I love MUSIC!!! I’ve been sitting at the piano playing a few chords, and playing around some melodies. Found a few chords, sounding pretty decent for a melody I’m looking forward to working on. YAY for me!

I love MY FAMILY! Spend a lot of time talking and enjoying the love and company of my family. Even if they’re near too me or living so far way, they still bring so much joy to my life. I love them all.

I love MY FRIENDS and ALL OUR YOUNG SINGLE ADULTS here! I’m happy to say that 98% of my closest friends are members. Whom, I spend almost every day with at our YSA activities or institute classes or firesides or meetings. I love being with them. We all have obstacles needed to be face and being together gives us a chance to work things through, but be there in our hour of need by the support of each other. I love my calling as the YSA President, it’s a burden to take but I see it as a challenge. Something I’m learning to get pass, and something I LOVE AND ENJOY!

TWO BAD HABITS:

Forgetting to take the laundry out of the dryer or getting the clothes folded. Everything deals with the laundry. Darn! I totally forgot about the towels hanging on the clothes line! See, I forget things like that! NOT ALWAYS THOUGH, the moment comes and goes.

FIVE JOBS I'VE HAD:

1. Baby sitter
2. Clerical/Secretary
3. Piano Teacher
4. A counselor, a consultant, a teacher, a leader, a daughter, a sister, etc.
5. Home-helper!!!!

Here are two pics of Mauna Kea. Tomorrow I'll try to post a few video clips of our YSA choir. Our performance Saturday night, went really well. Well lets see how it goes with downloading the clips. Love yahs!
